Women at Work: 100% of Women at Mediafly agree that…

WomenatMediafly_2-750x644 In May 2018, Mediafly was recognized by Inc. as one of the Best Places to Work in Chicago. While we’re proud of our inclusion and the high score we received for having highly engaged employees, a fun work environment, and strong senior leadership, for us, the feedback captured from the women at Mediafly takes the cake.

100% of women at Mediafly said they agreed with the statement, “I see professional growth and career development opportunities for myself in this organization.”

With women represented in both management positions and on our senior leadership team, Mediafly has created a culture that empowers women across all departments to advance their careers beyond the proverbial glass ceiling. Not only does Mediafly ensure equal wages and a safe workplace for all employees, our values extend into recognition of personal needs too.

WomenatMediafly_1-750x644 Medical maternity and parental leave ensure both men and women have equal opportunity to bond with their baby. Upon returning to work, nursing mothers have access to a private, dedicated space. As a close-knit organization, the teams regularly throw baby showers for expecting mothers and extend invitations to families for kid-friendly company festivities.

Ensuring that employees feel they have access to learning and development is vital to an engaged workplace. Mediafly’s COO/CFO John Evarts says, “We want to make sure women feel safe and empowered to have the same seat at the table as any other person. They should be fairly compensated, have the same access to management and decision-capabilities. We are intentional in making sure women know this is available to them.”

This focus and intentionality have paid off. The number of women in the workplace at Mediafly has increased by more than four times in less than three years, while the number of Flyers has doubled over the same period. This acceleration of the ability to attract and retain women has been a source of pride for the team. Take a look at what some of our female Flyers have to say about their own experiences:

We all have different strengths and everyone shares what they know so we can do our best work together.” Helen Martch, Senior Extensions Engineer

quoteMarks “From the moment I walked into the Mediafly offices for the first time, I knew I belonged at this company. My voice, opinions and ideas are heard and acted upon, and my professional growth has opened up opportunities that I didn’t believe could be possible. The team encouraged me to explore my professional interests, and with their help and support, I was able to create an entirely new role for myself at the company. My growth here is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!” Elise Oldenburg, Director of Customer Operations

quoteMarks “Given the shortage of women in tech, let alone in senior roles, I am not surprised to have found myself as the only woman on a leadership team of seven at Mediafly. But at no point have l felt that my male peers are in a better position to succeed or are being evaluated differently than I am. I have seen first-hand the very deliberate effort to hire more women and balance our previous gender gap. There is a sense that everyone is much happier progressing from a male-dominated culture to a more diverse one and appreciates the renewed work dynamics, energy and perspectives that female Flyers have brought to the company.” Isabelle Papoulias, VP Marketing

quoteMarks “Mediafly’s culture has become stronger and more well-rounded with the addition of talented women in the workplace. We have more than doubled our female presence in the workplace over the last couple of years, and we plan to continue that trend going forward.” Laura Singer, HR Manager
